Home >Products >ShipManager ver 6.1 > Dry Dock Module
Dry Dock planning and the subsequent monitoring of the Dry Dock work can be a daunting affair in the best of times. Technical superintendents have to perform a number of complex tasks such as preparation of Dry Dock specifications, liaising with various yards and tracking the progress of Dry Dock work against pre set benchmarks. It would be virtually impossible to manage these stages without an integrated Dry Dock management system.

ShipManager’s Dry Dock module is a very effective solution that helps Technical Superintendents manage every aspect of the Dry Dock exercise. The Dry Dock module leverages the Purchase module’s core engine to generate RFQs, obtain quotation from various yards and last but not the least compare these quoted by various parameters. The Dry Dock module comes with specialized analytical tools to track the variance of the actual time taken and actual costs incurred in carrying out the Dry Dock work from what was originally planned.

A snapshot of the key features and capabilities of ShipManager’s Dry Dock Module is as follows:

  • Pre-populated comprehensive job list for all equipments and systems
  • Pre-populated Dry Dock specifications for all kinds of vessels
  • Steel renewal, valve renewal / overhaul and pipe renewal jobs can be accurately specified and planned
  • The steel weight and area to be coated are automatically calculated for each job and the same gets included in the total steel renewal job list.
  • Ability to leverage purchase module’s core engine to facilitate paperless execution of the entire rate gathering and comparison cycle, which starts with the RFQs being sent to various yards, followed by the receipt of quotes sent back by the yards in pre-formatted excel sheets, the quotes being imported into the application and eventually the tallying and comparison of quotes sent in by various yards.
  • Quotes (Tenders) can be analyzed based on: unit cost, repair duration and estimated total repair cost
  • The Dry Dock module helps technical superintendents assess the impact of the following factors, thereby helping them take an informed decision with regards to the most cost effective location for carrying out Dry Dock work:
  • Number of days required for vessel positioning / re-positioning
  • Bunker cost to be incurred on positioning / re-positioning
  • Time requirement for close-up survey and thickness measurements
  • Graphical display of all data for clarity and analysis
  • Automatic generation of work order for the selected yard
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of Dry Dock work based on the variance of actual cost/time from what was originally planned.
  • An exhaustive database of yards
  • Ability to keep track of yard history and record area of specialization of individual yards
